About

I am Nitesh Kumar Podh a Ph.D. research scholar and Prime minister's research fellow (PMRF) at Indian Institute of Technology , Hyderabad.

I have completed my B.Sc. with Hons. in Zoology from Rajendra Autonomous college, Sambalpur University, followed by  M.Sc. in Zoology (Biochemistry and molecular biology) from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi . I have qualified several National level exams like GATE-XL,GATE-BT 2021, CSIR JRF- DEC 2019. I have been offered a Ph.D. position at Laboratory of Chromosome Dynamics and Gene Regulation under the supervision of Dr. Gunjan Mehta.

My research mainly focuses on Single molecule tracking/ imaging of Mitotic Cancer target Polo like kinase(Plk-1).

Overview of My Research

My research mainly focuses on Single molecule tracking/ imaging of Mitotic Cancer target Polo like kinase(Plk-1).

Plk1 control several aspects of eukaryotic cell division and DNA damage response. Remarkably, Plk1 is
overexpressed in several types of cancer, hence, it is considered as a potential target for cancer therapy. This project will unravel the single-molecule dynamics of Plk1, yet unexplored biophysical property
of Plk1 action in healthy and cancerous cells, providing new avenue for drug development by modulating
its dynamics. Mechanistic understanding about Plk1 action may help treating several genetic disorders,
aneuploidy and cancers.
